BBFC advice: Contains infrequent strong language, moderate sex references
Corny and cringeworthy - I haven't seen a more sickly romance than Love Again for years.
I couldn't fathom why superstars Celine Dion and Priyanka Chopra agreed to sign up for it.
Thus, I was astonished that it scored a whopping 91% fresh from audience reviews on the Rotten Tomatoes site.
They included one from a lass who had seen the film six times!
Then I realised that most of the eulogies were from women whom I suspect were young.
In other words, I was not the target of this picture.
Anyway, there are tears from the early minutes when Chopra's character Mira watches her boyfriend (Arinzé Kene) killed by a drunk driver outside the coffee house where they have just been canoodling.
The story moves on two years when her parents persuade the still grief-stricken animator to lift herself from her grief to return to the city and live with her sister (Sofia Barclay).
Meanwhile, in a rather strange tactic to overcome her loss, Mira starts to text her dead boyfriend, unaware that his number has been reassigned to a newspaper reporter, Rob (Sam Heughan).
He falls for her words and is encouraged to meet her by - Celine Dion.
Yes, cheese drips from James C. Strouse's movie as it drifts from one implausible scene to the next.
I would not describe Love Again as a rom-com because there are no discernable gags.
Thus, all that remains is a simple romance between a bereaved cartoonist and a writer who has a nasty habit of putting his foot in it.
And then there is dear Celine. It is a mystery why she takes time out from her ultra-busy schedule to act as his therapist.
Call me hard-hearted, but I found none of it rang remotely true.
Worse still, I found it impossible to buy into a romance between grieving Mira and bumbling Rob.
In my opinion, this is largely down to stilted, dull dialogue.
Anyway, I can only presume those who rated it highly have missed the avalanche of ropey rom-coms that were the staple diet of the cinemas a decade or so ago.
Love Again wasn't even as good as them.

Did you know? Celine first emerged as a teen star in Switzerland and rose to international fame by winning the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest.
The final word. Sam Heughan: "It started with (writer and director) Jim Strouse’s beautiful script. I loved the story and the characters. And then, when I found out Priyanka (Chopra) was involved, I was even more sold. I am a huge fan of hers, and she is utterly brilliant as the heart of this movie...We got on so well from day one."
